A tabako-ire (tobacco pouch) with kagamibuta netsuke and a wood netsuke The netsuke attributed to Tanaka Minko, both Edo period (1615-1868), early/mid 19th century The tabako-ire made of leather tooled with dragons curled in rounded foliate reserves, the silvered metal mae-kanagu (clasp) a writhing three-clawed dragon, the interior clasp plate decorated with waves and signed Homin, 13.5cm (5¼in) long; with a kagamibuta netsuke attached by linked chains, the netsuke with an ivory bowl bearing a silvered metal plate with a three-clawed dragon in relief, writhing amongst clouds as it grasps a tama (sacred jewel) in one claw, unsigned, 5.3cm (2 1/16in) diam.; the netsuke depicting a smooth-skinned kappa standing, modestly covering itself with its claws, signed Minko, 7.4cm (2 7/8in).
