An ivory kiseruzutsu (pipe case) By Tesseki, Taisho era (1912-1926), dated 1913 Of muso-zutsu form, finely engraved in kebori with a continuous scene of Chinese scholars in a mountainous landscape, four crossing a bridge over a river, three in a hut supported on stilts and two wandering among trees, one of them carrying a qin (Chinese stringed instrument), an inscription at the top reading Kotei kaishu (Gathering at the River Pavilion); signed mizunoto-ushi shoshu Tesseki to (Carved by Tesseki in the seventh month of the mizunoto-ushi year [1913]) with a seal. 22cm (8 5/8in) high. 注脚 Provenance: Rosemary Bandini, London, 2007.
