Six fuchi-gashira (hilt collars and pommels) Edo period (1615-1868), 18th to 19th century Three of shibuichi and two of shakudo nanako, decorated in a variety of chiselling and inlay techniques, the first with monkeys and young and persimmon trees, signed Yamagawa Takatsugu (d. 1882) and Shigetaka with a kao; the second, a rat and hanging scroll and rats and a fan, with signature Yasuchika; the third, the kashira with rats and rice plants, the fuchi with sparrows, signed Ishiguro Masatsune with a kao; the fourth with a tiger and butterfly, signed Seishinsai; the fifth with dragons, clouds, and raging seas, signed Nagamitsu with a kao; the fuchi of shibuichi with peonies on a basketwork ground; the kashira of shibuichi with a spotted shishi (Chinese mythical lion).
