A fine Satsuma bowl By Yabu Meizan (1853-1934), Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Finely decorated in enamels and gilt, the exterior with a gathering of a profusion of women and children engaged in leisure pursuits, including koto practice, shamisen playing, dancing and calligraphy; the interior depicting a design of hanging wisteria; signed on the base Yabu Meizan within a gilt seal. 12.5cm (5in) diameter. 注脚 For a similar interior design from the Yabu Meizan Workshop, compare Oliver Impey and Malcolm Fairley, The Nasser D. Khalili Collection of Japanese Art, Vol.V, Ceramics Part II, London, Kibo Foundation, 1995, cat.no.57. The Khalili example is thought to date from circa 1900-1910.
