A large late 19th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver bowl or jardinière, Cutch circa 1890 Raj period, of inverted baluster form upon a double domed circular foot. The everted rim with scalloped edge chased with foliate scrolls. The body with a vacant shield shape cartouche otherwise reserved with deep chased decoration of foliate scrolls with rosettes interspersed with scenes of animals such as a boar attacking a lion, an elephant trampling a lioness, a lion attacking a stag, otherwise with birds, all above a stylised acanthus leaf border. The foot with deep chased decoration of foliate scrolls with rosettes above a band of stylised leaves. Height – 25.9 cm / 10.1 inches Weight – 1546 grams / 49.01 ozt
