A mid-20th century Iranian (Persian) silver tea tray, Isfahan circa 1940 possibly mark of Fadavi Pahlavi dynasty, of hexafoil form with a cavetto edge. The centre with a chased and engraved ghalam zani hexafoil medallion with three long tailed birds among peonies and other foliage. The field otherwise with shaped cartouches with either nightingales among flowers golo morgh or arabesques, all against foliage and peony vignettes. The cavetto edge and rim with rosette and star borders, respectively. Marked to the field front with combination workshop mark and standard mark (۸۴). Diameter – 27.5 cm / 10.8 inches Weight – 521 grams / 16.75 inches These lobed trays held six tea glass holders or podstakanniks to the edges with the centre with a covered twin handled sugar bowl.
