A pair of George IV/ William IV Old Sheffield Silver plate wine coolers, Sheffield circa 1825-35 Of campana form upon a spreading circular foot, with a gadrooned rim quartered with a shell and acanthus scroll motif. The twin handles formed as rocaille scrolls with acanthus junctions. Removable internal liner and lid section. Engraved to each side with either crest of: the stern of a battle ship on fire and out of a naval coronet, a demi-leopard. Unmarked. (2) Height – 26 cm / 10.2 inches The crests are for Carnegie, as borne by the Earl’s of Northesk Possibly for John Jervis Carnegie (1807-1892), son of Admiral William Carnegie, 7th Earl of Northesk (1765-1831) and Mary Rickett (1768-1835). He married, firstly, Charlotte Stevenson (d.1874), on 13 February 183, he married, secondly, Georgiana Marjoribanks (1813-1896), brother of Dudley Coutts Marjoribanks, 1st Baron Tweedmouth of Edington (1820-1894) on 8th June 1876. The Monmouth and the Foudroyant salver is engraved with his arms with Steveson on an escutcheon of pretence, sold Sotheby’s London 2 Nov 2001, Lot 446
