A set of four George II sterling silver salts, London 1745 by David Hennell (first reg. 23rd June 1736) Each of compressed circular form with gadrooned rims, raised upon three shell feet with chased harvest maiden mask junctions. The bodies with contemporaneous chasing of flat chased decoration of C scroll cartouches of fruit, a splay of roses and duck either side of an asymmetrical cartouche, each with rocaille work ends. The cartouches engraved with 19th century crests of demi eagle displayed with a thistle in the mouth. Gilt interiors, the interiors each later stamped with numerals 1 through 4 incuse.
