Pair of showcases; Andalusia, mid-eighteenth century. Lacquered and gilded wood. They have flaws in the carving, polychrome and gilding. They have repainting in the gilding. Measurements: 256 x 88 x 38 cm (x2). Set formed by two showcases of identical structure and similar ornamentation, made of lacquered and gilded wood. Each of the furniture is supported on four cabriole legs with floral decoration arranged in the upper area of each of them, including the rear legs. On a square base that ends in the lower front with a honeycomb design, the body of the showcase is structured, consisting of a single lane and three registers, all of similar dimensions. The interior is exposed by the large glass door on whose outer perimeter, that of the wooden structure, are rhythmically arranged details of vegetal order. While in the upper corners there are two golden reliefs in the form of a garland, which harmonize with the acanthus leaf that serves as a transition between the structure of the body and the upper gable. This area is decorated according to the models of the chinoiserie. Regarding the ornamentation of the piece, it is worth mentioning that it is defined by an orientalizing style, although manufactured in Europe, where, throughout the 18th century, both China and Japan were a constant source of inspiration, both for painting and for the design of furniture, interiors and decorative objects. Dimensions 256 x 88 x 38 cm (x2).
