Note: Based on stylistic grounds and on the classical Palladio-inspired architecture of the distant building, the present work was likely executed by a Northern Italian artist of the 18th Century. This classic Arcadian view of nature and architecture at their most resplendent reflects the notion of landscapes of the ‘ideal’, that were so prevalent in Italy in the preceding two centuries, championed, above all, by Claude Lorrain (1600-1682).Please refer to department for condition report
