Provenance: Anon. sale, Sotheby's, Billingshurst, 14 January 1992, lot 245. Exhibited: London, Royal Academy of Arts, 'Summer Exhibition', 1908, no.713. Note: Sawyer studied at the Herkomer's School of Art, Bushey, and later exhibited widely, including at London's Royal Academy between 1887 and 1910, at The Society of Women Artists in Brighton, and at the Paris Salon. She was central to the Art and Craft movement in Ditchling, Sussex. She lived at Enfield Terrace in Croydon, London and at Russell House in Ditchling, Sussex.Please refer to department for condition report
