Giannetti' (lower right), 41.5 x 29.5 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: Giannetti was celebrated for his figure paintings, often clothing them in contemporary or historical costume. The present example bears similarities to the artist’s watercolour ‘Young Beauty Stood on a Terrace, holding a Rose’ (1876) which sold at , Bath, 17 July 2006, lot 28. Though executed in oil, there are parallels, too, in costume style, stance, and setting with his 'Italian Beauty Holding Flowers' (1879), for which see Sotheby's, New York, 3 May 2000, lot 94.
