Alexis Kreyder, French 1839-1912- Irises and daffodils; oil on canvas, signed 'A. Kreyder' (lower left), numbered '5' (on the remains of an old label attached to the reverse of the stretcher), 73.2 x 59.5 cm., (unframed). Note: Born in Alsace in 1839, Kreyder moved to Paris in 1859, and in 1863 made his debut at the Salon des Artistes Français. He obtained a first medal at the Salon of 1867, a second class medal in 1884, and a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. Finally, he was made Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1889. He was one of the most highly prized still life painters working in France at this time.Please refer to department for condition report
