An English Gildedposition Lawrence Frame, mid-19th century, with bud leaf and bar sight, the cross-hatched cushioned hollow with shell cartouche corners, laurel leaf and berry back edge, bears applied printed paper label for Aitken Dott Carver & Gilder 16 South St David's St Edinburgh, 20 x 23.8 cm. (sight).Frame does not appear to have been reduced. Old fixing holes on all rails verso. Oil gilding on the surface is mostly intact. There is a hole running right through the bottom rail. Lower right mitre is slightly open. Top right corner has been overpainted in gold paint. Small spots of retouching here and there. Overall very good condition.
