PROPERTIES FROM A NOTED COLLECTOR OF CHINESE EXPORT SILVER *A GROUP OF THREE (3) CHINESE EXPORT SILVER PIECES UNIDENTIFIED MAKERS CHINA, LATE QING DYNASTY, EARLY 20TH CENTURY - The first piece is a Chinese export silver face mirror, originally part of a vanity set, nicely chiselled with a flying three-claw dragon. H: 23,8 cm Gross weight: 295,5 grams - The second piece is a Chinese export silver box and cover of rectangular shape adorned on four (4) sides as well as on the top of the lid with a fine repousse décor of medallions circumscribing birds and flowers against guilloche grounds. It may have been originally partially gilded. The base bears a mark reading ‘金品’ (jīn pǐn), lit. ‘gold’. H: 7,4 cm - L: 14 cm - width: 9,3 cm Weight: 356 grams - The third piece is a finely made filigree and enamelled card holder adorned with flowers and dragons. H: 9,5 cm Gross weight: 64 grams Provenance: a noted collector of Chinese Export Silver wares. Note: The second piece, the box of rectangular shape, is adorned with the theme of ‘The Four Gentlemen’ (sijunzi, 四君子), or ‘Four Seasons’: plums, orchids, bamboos and chrysanthemums.
