A large, beautiful bronze oil lamp cast by the lost wax process and designed so that it could hang from the original chains attached to three suspension hooks, one above each of the three nozzles - or sit on its concave base. In the central medallion on the base is a low relief representation of the face of Medusa, this can be seen when the lamp hangs from the ceiling. The scallop shell or spade-shaped nozzles are equidistantly placed around a central raised boss with theatre masks with rosettes above decorating the bowl of the lamp placed between the nozzles, a central filling hole is at the centre of the lamp. 23.5 cm.
