A Chinese Cinnabar Lacquer Dish , Qing dynasty. Its petalate rim finished with a metal band above dragons on a cloud background that fill the cavetto while a detailed landscape across the floor displays scholars, immortals , and boy attendants traversing a bridge near a lakeside garden villa, the lacquered base bearing Qianlong six-character mark surrounded by the Eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism against an incised wanzi diaper ground.. 33 cm diameter ,comes with a stand. ,,Provenance : From the Estate of Alfred and Irene Morley and thence by descent to the current owner. Alfred ( Bob) Morley (1890-1971) was a British journalist and diplomat . He lived from 1915 till 1941 in Hongkong and Shanghai , He was editor for both the Hong-Kong Telegraph and,,the South China Morning Post , in 1931 He settled in Shanghai as Editor for the Shanghai Times. He was also president of the Rotary Club Shanghai. From March 1940 he was Press Attaché at the British embassy in Shanghai .
