此件玉兽为和阗玉质，玉质温润，通体红沁。瑞兽呈蹲伏状，回首远视。杏眼炯炯有神，狮鼻尖口，头顶生有独角，鬃毛自颈部向两侧飘散。玉兽身躯浑圆，背部隆起，四肢蹲踞有力，大腿两侧雕饰卷云纹，宽尾翻卷上翘紧贴臀部，尾巴两侧卷曲而下。小兽造型奇特，形象生动，肌理线条流畅，是动物瑞兽中的精品，自背部至腹底打有通天孔，可佩系。整器造型圆润饱满，沁色古雅，包浆厚重，具有浓郁的中古时期风格特征，独特稀有，十分难得。
