A JIZHOU PAINTED BLACK-GLAZED BOWL, SOUTHERN SONG TO YUAN DYNASTY
China, 12th-14th century. The rounded sides with a distinct ridge on the interior below the slightly everted rim and supported on a recessed tapered foot, covered inside and out with a blackish-brown glaze ending on the exterior in an irregular line above the foot, revealing the orange-buff ware, and fluidly painted on the interior in buff-colored slip with blossoming branches.
Provenance: From an old private collection in the Rhineland, Germany, assembled during the 1980s and 1990s.
Condition: Good condition with some wear, scratches and other traces of age, one breakage at the rim with associated repair.
