The Imperial Archives record that glass cups were used for wine drinking in the Palace, for example in the 14th year of Qianlong's reign (1749), the Eunuch Hu Shijie delivered a glass engraved 'floral' wine cup, see Qinggong Neiwufu Zaobanchu Dangan Zonghui [Zaobanchu archives of the Qing Imperial Household Department], vol.17, Beijing, 2007, p.39.料紫中泛紅，杯呈仰鐘，侈口，修身，收於圈足，光素無紋。本件料色可參考一件北京故宮藏清乾隆紫紅色玻璃盤，見《故宮收藏：你應該知道的200件玻璃器》，北京，2008年，頁49，編號35。清宮以玻璃作酒杯在內務府清檔中留有記載，如乾隆十四年（1749年） 記載：「太監胡世傑交...玻璃刻花酒元一件」，見《清宮內務府造辦處檔案總匯》，北京，2007年，卷17，頁39。
