The mallet-shaped body rising to a tall neck with everted rim, the neck and shoulder covered in a black glaze and painted in silver enamel with a phoenix in flight amid clouds above a band of key fret, the body covered in a fine grey speckled glaze. The underside bearing the artist signature EIRAKU HOZEN in red.
