2nd-3rd century AD. A gold finger ring comprising a D-section hoop and bezel with inset carnelian intaglio of Mars standing with helmet, spear and shield. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 229 for type. 11.5 grams, 23.25mm overall, 18.39mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q, USA 8, Europe 17.49, Japan 16) (1").
