A gold clad core-formed figure of Venus(?), the goddess of love, draped in a formal tunic with her right hand dressing her hair, left hand gripping a temple altar; ribbed suspension loop to the reverse; mounted on a custom-made stand. See Rolland, H. Bronzes Antiques de Haute Provence, Paris, 1965, item 78 for similar pose. 13.4 grams, 66mm including stand (2 1/2"). Property of a UK collection; acquired from Ancient Art, North London, UK; accompanied by a copy of an Art Loss Register certificate. Fine condition.
