1500-1155 BC. A mottled limestone cylinder seal with a bearded god is facing left on a seat with a diagonal cross brace (very rare chair type); he wears a flat round cap with a narrow edge, his hair in a bun and a long robe with hems crossing each other on the chest and flounced at the bottom; he raises a pomegranate in his right hand and his left arm is bent; a bearded naked man, also with a round cap and a hair bun, kneels on both knees before the figure, raising his right hand in adoration gesture; above both figures is a shelf on which are three other pomegranates already dedicated to the god; line borders round bottom and top of the seal; with a three-line inscription. 12.4 grams, 37mm (1 1/2"). From the private collection of a North West London lady; previously with a central London gallery; formerly acquired before 1990. Very fine condition. Very rare chair type.
