A silver phiale with slightly flared rim, the body with a series of repoussé petals forming a sun-burst, radiating from a central flat panel with incised concentric rings; flared foot below. 300 grams, 21.5cm (8 1/4"). Property of a central London collector; previously with Sotheby's, New York, 24 November 1987, lot 83; formerly in the collection of Joseph Tembach (1897-1982), USA.
