A substantial iron spearhead with narrow leaf-shaped blade, with central rib and blood channel either side, long slightly flared closed socket with hole for an attachment stud; mounted on a custom-made stand. Cf. Stead, I. & Rigby, V. Iron Age Antiquities from Champagne in the British Museum. The Morel Collection, London, 1999, item 2438. 1.7 grams total, spearhead: 60cm (23 1/2"). From the family collection of a South East London collector; formerly acquired in the late 1950s. Very fine condition. Professionally cleaned and restored.
