A substantial silvered bronze scallop-shell mount with pointillé textured bands following the contours of the shell, five fixing studs with washers to the reverse, a staple with ferrous lock; mounted on a custom-made stand. 90.8 grams, 12.5cm including stand (5"). Property of a London gentleman; formerly in an old UK private collection. The scallop shell motif is famously associated with the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. Very fine condition. Rare.
