16th-early 17th century AD. A gold ring with thin hoop with expanding scrolled shoulders, traces of white and green enamel on the scrolls; the bezel in the form of an incurved hexagon with a skull in the centre, which would have been enamelled in white, surrounded by upper-case inscription 'MEMENTO MORI' with traces of black enamel, incised line decoration in the corners. Published by the Portable Antiquities Scheme with record number CAM-49BF57; accompanied by a copy of the PAS report. 4.20 grams, 22.69mm overall, 18.66x15.55mm internal diameter (approximate size British N, USA 6 1/2, Europe 13.72, Japan 13) (3/4"). Found Freckenham, Suffolk, UK, 2013. Disclaimed under the Treasure Act as 2013-T835; accompanied by a copy of the British Museum report and a letter disclaiming the the Crown's interest in the find. Fine condition, hoop split.
