A South German two-hand sword, circa 1580 Sturdy, double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section. The long ricasso with the original leather cover, two curved guards at the side. The blackened quillons with incised ornamentation, coiled ends and spirals appliquéd on the side. The guard rings on both sides curling around stylised fleur-de-lys motifs. Stepped grip with original leather cover, a small defect on one side. The double tapered pommel with incised ornamentation. Length 168.5 cm.Condition: II -
