AN ATTRACTIVE PAIR OF FAMILLE ROSE 'MANDARIN-PATTERN' BALUSTER VASES AND COVERS Qianlong period, circa 1780 The tall baluster trumpet-necked vases of flattened rectangular form enameled in the classic 'mandarin palette' on the main faces with large figural landscape panels reserved on an extensive iron red and gilt Y-pattern ground beneath smaller similar panels on the neck, all contained within gilt scroll and dragon-head frames, the sides set with two flattened S-shaped dragon handles, the angular domed covers each enameled en suite and set on top with a gilt seated lion finial facing forward. 18 3/4in (47.5cm) high (2).
