Light celadon color jade with russet inclusions, smooth surface polish China, 18th century or possibly earlier This jade pebble is carved in the shape of a peach with a little bat sitting on it and which is carved in high relief. Natural russet color inclusions in the material have been used to highlight the creature and the darker colored tip of the fruit. The peach is a symbol of longevity, and the word for bat in Chinese is fu which is a homophone for 'blessing'. Together the bat and peach form ‘fushou shuang quan’, a wish for good fortune and long life. Shape: Figural rounded shape, two holes for suspension Dimensions: 5,2 cm (height), 6,5 cm (length), 2,7 cm (width) Condition: Good condition with extensive hand patina Provenance: American private collection, collector’s number to underside Literature comparison: Sotheby’s, QING DYNASTY JADES FROM A HONG KONG COLLECTION, 01 JUNE 2017, HONG KONG, lot 45 (for a comparable peach and bat group, yet of larger size) 十八世紀青玉“福壽”山子 品相良好,大面積細膩包漿 美國私人收藏,玉戒内側可見藏家編號
