Provenance: Presumably by descent from one of the sitters, ancestor of the present owner Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined. The picture is in plane, the canvas tension is slightly slack. The paint layer is in a stable condition. There are a few old losses and damages which have been repaired and retouches. There has been some degradation to the blue pigment which appears to have been corrected in areas with overpaint. Small localised areas of retouching in the face. The varnish has degraded becoming very matte and slightly pale. There is surface dirt on the front and reverse of the painting. The frame is in a good condition overall.
