A Chinese Cinnabar Lacquer Box and Cover Of rectangular form with canted corners, the cover is carved with a scene of buildings and a bridge across a river, mountains in the distance. A lady and four children stand together, a willow tree overhangs the shore, the sides deeply carved with cartouches of lotus flowers surrounded by key-fret pattern and scrolling tendrils against a diamond pattern ground in black lacquer contrasting with the red, the interior and base in black lacquer.
