Ming Dynasty Xuande Period (1426-1435) Blue & White Porcelain Emperor's Cup *Belonged to Le Thai To Estate* Only Two in Existance - This stunning piece is a Ming Dynasty blue and white porcelain emperor's cup, from the Xuande Period. This piece is the only one in existance, and belonged to Vietnamese Emperor Le Thai To, and was gifted to a member of the Hoang family, who later became part of a royal family of Vietnam. Le Loi, later known as Le Thai To, is one of the most famous figures of Vietnamese history, credited with defeating the Ming Army, ending the 4th Chinese Domination of Vietnam, and founding the Later Le Dynasty of Vietnam. After the defeat of the Ming army, the Xuande Emperor officially recognized Le Loi as the ruler of Vietnam, and in exchange Le Loi sent diplomatic messages to the Ming Imperial Court, promising Vietnam's loyalty as a vassal state of China. The cup is in excellent condition, and has the Ming Dynasty, Xuande Period six character mark on the bottom, in underglaze blue in double circles. The piece measures 3.25"H x 4" in diameter (across the top) x 2" in diameter (across the bottom).
