A large black-lacquer wood single-case inro Style of Shibata Zeshin, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th century In the form of a partly used ink-cake, carved in relief on one side with a tiger standing among rocks and trees, its head raised and turned back, sniffing the air for prey, the reverse with a dragon among clouds in similar style, the interior of black lacquer and the cord runners formed by silver rings; unsigned. 8.9cm (3½in) high. 注脚 Provenance: Harriet Szechenyi Collection. Sold in these Rooms, 8 November 2011, lot 264. Jacques Carré Collection. A very similar example was in the collection of Baron Takei Morimasa, no.7C5.
