Six fuchi-gashira (hilt collars and pommels) Edo period (1615-1868), 18th to 19th century Three of shibuichi, two of shakudo, and one of iron, decorated in high-relief iro-e inlay and other techniques, the first with a swordsmith forging a blade and examining it seated under a shimenawa (sacred enclosure rope); the second with horses and a man leading an ox, with signature Otsuryuken Shozui, aged 68; the third with the three heroes of the Three Kingdoms studying a scroll, signed Naoyuki; the fourth with a gesturing rakan (Buddhist disciple) and a giant hossu (whisk), indistinctly signed Noriyuki; the fifth with two sennin, one of them Tekkai with his staff and bowl, with signature Nagatsune and a kao; the last with a hooded figure under a willow, signed Nara Tsuneshige.
