Seven fuchi-gashira (hilt collars and pommels) Edo period (1615-1868), 18th to 19th century Two of shibuichi, three of shakudo, and two of brass, decorated in a variety of chiselling and inlay techniques, the first with flowering cherry branches, signed Toishitoyo with a kao (pupil of Iwama Nobuyoshi); the second with flowering cherry branches, repurposed as a snuff box; the third with budding and flowering peonies, signed Inagawa Naokatsu (1719-1761); the fourth with budding peonies; the fifth with a pine branch and bamboo, signed Ikkin with a kao; the sixth with cherry blossoms, signed Kawaji Masatoshi with a kao; the last with flowering peonies, with signature and seal Yasuchika.
