A cloisonné-enamel koshira-e (mounting) with tachi (slung sword) The cloisonné-enamel mounts probably by a Nagoya workshop, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century; the blade probably Meiji (1868-1912), Taisho (1912-1926), or Showa (1926-1989) era, late 19th/20th century The scabbard and hilt worked in polychrome enamels and silver wire, decorated with white, red and blue chrysanthemum blossoms interwoven among karakusa ('Chinese grasses') on an aventurine flecked ground, the tsuba (sword guard) similarly embellished to match, fitted with silver mounts engraved with chrysanthemums and foliage, unsigned; the blade of shinogi-zukuri form, choji ha with yaki-dashi, komaru boshi, unsigned. Total length: 115.8cm (45½in) long; the blade: 69cm (27 1/8in) long.
