A lacquer and ivory okimono and ivory okimono Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century The first a dancer stepping forward, her foot peeking from the hem of her richly decorated kimono, her kimono and obi decorated with hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi maki-e, and Gyobu-nashiji and embellished with kirikane and shell inlay, holding a gilt metal fan in each hand, unsigned, 19.1cm (7½in) high; the second a farmer carrying tall bundles of wheat overhead, passing by the trunk of a cut tree, a pair of small birds resting by the farmer's feet, one pecking at a fallen straw while the other looks up at the farmer; signed Reishun, 19.8cm (7¾in).
