A Satsuma three-lobed dish By Kinkozan, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Decorated in enamels and gilt, the dish divided into three trays and decorated with a continuous garden scene depicting a cockerel and hen foraging for food beside a cherry tree and butterflies hovering over flowering peonies and hagi (bush clover) growing behind bamboo fences, the sides with repeated karakusa ('Chinese grass') sprays on a blue ground; signed on the base with seal Kinkozan tsukuru beneath an impressed seal Kinkozan. 1.7cm x 19.5cm (5/8in x 7 5/8in).
