A satsuma hexagonal koro (incense burner) and cover By Kinkozan, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Boldly decorated in enamels and gilt with an all-over design of branches of assorted seasonal flowers draped across the body including cherry, peony, and chrysanthemum, the shoulder covered with an elaborate simulated brocade cloth decorated with repeated geometric and foliate motifs, the cover similarly embellished and surmounted by a finial in form of a seated spotted shishi (Chinese mythical lion), the whole supported on tall shishi-tongue feet; signed on the base Kinkozan tsukuru. 25cm (9 7/8in) high.
