A Satsuma baluster vase By Kinkozan, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Finely decorated in gilt and enamels, each side with an elaborate lobed panel depicting the Chinese maiden Guzheng playing the koto surrounded by a retinue of attendants and on the other a scene from a battle camp showing a high-ranking courtier surrounded by retainers, listening to two archers knelt at his feet, the waisted neck with a tasselled ribbon, all on an unusual grey ground of tightly clustered chrysanthemum blossoms moulded in low relief; signed on the base in gilt Kinkozan kore o tsukuru with an impressed seal Kinkozan. 31cm (12 1/8in) high.
