Two Satsuma vessels One by Kinkozan and one by painted by Tsunemitsu for the Kinkoku Company, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Each decorated in enamels and gilt, the first a dish with an autumnal outdoor scene of a mother and child in a garden, the woman carrying an insect cage whilst her son searches for the dragonflies on the blades of windswept grasses, signed on the reverse Kinkozan on a swirling brocade, 20.6cm (8 1/16in); the second a globular compressed koro (incense burner) and cover, raised on three shishi-tongue feet, decorated around the body with panels of warriors on horseback or in combat, the cover pierced and surmounted by a finial in the form of a seated shishi (Chinese mythical lion); signed on the base Dai Nippon Satsuma no kuni, Kinkoku saku Tsunemitsu with a seal; 12cm (4¾in) high.
