A carved wood figure of Christ Resurrected, presumably Central Rhine Region, mid-15th century Carved in the round and partially freestanding. With extensive remains of older polychromy. A figure of Christ resurrected standing on a bank of clouds designed for a frontal viewpoint. The figure is depicted in a gently swaying pose and would originally have held a victory banner in its extended left hand. Christ is shown with the wound in His side, nude except for a perizonium and a floor length cloak resembling a clerical robe with a tassel hanging from the shoulder. The right arm and the separately attached left hand lost. Wear with minor losses. Height 91 cm. Provenance From a Dutch collection. Wohl Mittelrhein Mitte 15. Jahrhundert, Christus als Auferstandener Holz, vollrund und teilweise freiplastisch geschnitzt. Große Reste einer älteren farbigen Fassung. Auf Vorderansicht angelegte auf einem als Wolkenband gestaltetem Sockel in maßvollem Kontrapost stehende Figur des Auferstandenen, der ehemals in seiner vorgestreckten linken Hand die Siegesfahne gehalten haben dürfte. Der nackte Körper mit der Seitenwunde ist nur mit einem Lendentuch bekleidet und wird von einem bodenlangen Gewand umhüllt, das mit seinem Schulterteil mit herabhängendem Quast als geistlicher Chormantel gestaltet ist. Rechter Arm und ehemals eingesteckte linke Hand verloren. Bestoßungen mit geringfügigen Verlusten. Höhe 91 cm. Provenienz Niederländische Sammlung.
