A late 15th century Flemish carved wood figure of Saint Jerome (?) Carved in the round. With partially overpainted older polychromy. A figure of an enthroned older man in priestly attire and a broad brimmed Cardinal`s hat designed for a slightly lowered viewpoint. The object originally held in the figure`s hands, presumably an attribute, is now lost, but the figure most likely represents the Church Father Saint Jerome. The left hand reattached. The right forearm and the hand replaced. The left foot beneath the robe lost. The left back corner of the plinth replaced. Wear throughout. 30 x 19.5 x 14 cm. Provenance From a Dutch collection. Flämisch Ende 15. Jahrhundert, Hl. Hieronymus (?) Holz, vollrund geschnitzt. Ältere farbige Fassung, in Teilen übergangen. Die auf leichte Unteransicht gestaltete Figur eines auf einer Thronbank sitzenden älteren Mannes in geistlicher Tracht und mit breitkrempigen Kardinalshut - das wohl ehemals in seinen Händen gehaltene kennzeichnende Attribut hat sich nicht erhalten - ist wohl am ehesten als Darstellung des Kirchenvaters Hieronymus anzusprechen. Linke Hand wieder angefügt, rechter Unterarm und Hand ergänzt. Fuß des linken Beines unter dem Saum des Gewandes verloren. Hintere rechte Ecke der Plinthe ergänzt. Bestoßungen. 30 x 19,5 x 14 cm.
