This still life is a copy after a work by the Antwerp painter Jacob van Es, which was formerly housed in the Dr. Rau`sche Kunststiftung and was auctioned in London in 2006 (Christie`s, 8.12.2006, lot 114). The present work, which is registered in the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie (RKD), The Hague, under no. 6192 as a work of the second half of the 17th century, is also very similar to a still life in the Staatliches Museum Schwerin (inv. no. G 3846), which also shows a jug and a large number of prawns on the right-hand side of the picture. Das Stillleben entstand nach einem Werk des Antwerpener Malers Jacob van Es, das sich früher in der Dr. Rau’sche Kunststiftung befand und 2006 in London versteigert wurde (Christie`s, 8.12.2006, Lot 114). Große Ähnlichkeit zeigt unser Gemälde, das im Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie (RKD), Den Haag, unter der Nr. 6192 als Werk der zweiten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts registriert ist, darüber hinaus zu einem Stillleben des Staatlichen Museums Schwerin (Inv.-Nr. G 3846), das am rechten Bildrand noch zusätzlich einen Krug sowie eine größere Anzahl an Krabben zeigt.
