A PAIR OF ENAMELED COPPER BASKETS WITH COVERS, c. 1900sChina, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Each of compressed globular form, raised on a short flaring foot and set with a high handle. One decorated in bright enamels over a pink ground with blossoming flowers such as lotus, grapes and pomegranate, the domed cover similarly decorated and with a circular medallion with the character shou (longevity) within a border of bats, the handle and foot enameled green and decorated with stylized black designs. The second decorated in gilt with floral motifs on an iron-red ground, depicting the same central medallion on the cover and similarly enameled to the handle and foot.Condition: Good condition with some wear and manufacturing irregularities, few flakes and dense crackling to the enamels. A chip to one cover with a touch-up. Provenance: Private collection in Lyon, France.Weight: 223 g (total) Dimensions: Height 10 cm each
