A MASSIVE AND RARE DAYBED, TA, QINGChina, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), c. 18th century. The large bed with a rectangular frame enclosing the hard mat seat inlaid with varnished ‘woven’ bamboo stripes, the waist carved to one longer side with five reticulated friezes above an apron with stylized scrolls. The thick curving legs deeply carved with a central leaf. Condition: Good condition with attractive patina throughout, traces of use and wear such as surface scratches and chips to the lacquer in exposed areas, minor losses and few age cracks.
