A BAMBOO OPIUM PIPE WITH BONE, BRASS AND YIXING CERAMIC FITTINGS, QINGChina, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The bamboo stem with bone mouthpieces. The bowl holder made from brass, the bowl itself from Yixing stoneware, painted with stylized flower décor on top and a two-character mark punched to the base. Condition: Good condition with wear, light scratches, minuscule nicks, traces of use, and natural age cracks to the bamboo stem. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
