AN ARCHAISTIC CELADON AND RUSSET OVAL JADE DISCChina, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or earlier. The rare oval disc with a median ridge on each side, the sides carved with five stylized protruding cicadas. The opaque stone is of a celadon color with russet inclusions and veining as well as small areas of calcification.Condition: Good condition with surface wear, weathering, and natural flaws to the stone, one cicada with a chip.Provenance: By repute Ross Gordon collection, Brisbane (until 2002).
